The group was formed on Thursday consisting of Emily Moore, Alex Quine, Philippa Dotters, Kurt Hammond and I. The brainstorming began with several ideas on what kind of app we're going to develop. After writing down the different types of apps that are either popular on the Apple app store or on our own phones we began to pick the apps apart to try and find out the main appeal, we mainly did this by categorising the apps into the function of them. We thought this was key to the process of developing our own ideas because we wanted our app to be relevant to the contemporary user.
An idea started to develop between us; an app, aimed at students (or young adults with income), that helps with budgeting. We reckoned that an app that helps people, who perhaps don't have much experience with finance or budgeting, manage their money better. The app could feature elements such as;
- a feature that finds deals, offers and sales, cutting out the need for the user to shop around.
- It could act as an intermediary between your bank account and wherever you might be buying from. Like Paypal but with a feature set dedicated to maintaining a budget.
- Some of the more popular apps were social media apps so connectivity between users might not only be popular but also useful for bill splitting etc.
As for a name for our app we have a few possibilities: Upal, Upay, Dentless and Fixer.
Our company name will be decided when we consider our values as a brand and how we want to be represented.
